Mylan Supports Renewed Global Cooperation as Signatory to UN Statement

September 21, 2020

Mylan CEO Heather Bresch is among more than 1,000 business leaders from more than 100 countries who have signed a united statement on the significance of global cooperation, which is being presented to the U.N. Secretary-General as part of the organization’s 75th anniversary commemorations this week.

The UN Global Compact Statement for Renewed Global Cooperation is a commitment to work collaboratively to address some of the foundational barriers to a sustainable future including systemic inequalities and injustices. The statement’s release comes at a time of great uncertainty in the world, exacerbated by the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, which has shone a spotlight on the importance of working together.

As a global healthcare company, we have experienced the power and profound importance of partnerships and collaboration. Today, as we address the immediate needs and longer-term effects from the pandemic as they relate to global health and beyond, it has never been clearer that we are all part of an interconnected world.

Whether in our role as part of the global business community, or in the local communities where we live and work, we have also witnessed and experienced how organizations and individuals have gone above and beyond to support each other and overcome barriers. That work has required collaboration, trust and unconventional thinking from all stakeholders. As we look to the future and continue to work to address some of the most significant challenges of our time, such as the pandemic, climate change and persistent inequalities, let’s continue to nurture these powerful and positive abilities - together.
