Leadership at Work
Heather Bresch,
Chief Executive Officer
Heather Bresch began her career with Mylan as a data-entry clerk, rising through the ranks and eventually becoming Mylan’s president before taking on the CEO role.
Among her many accomplishments at Mylan, Heather led the successful integration of two international acquisitions – Matrix Laboratories and Merck KGaA’s generics business.
Heather is a leading advocate for global quality standards, and was instrumental in the development of the Generic Drug User Fee Amendments, which hold all drugs sold in the U.S. to one quality standard.
In addition, Heather has championed changes to the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to support the FDA with the resources to regularly inspect U.S. and foreign plants at the same rate.
She has also worked diligently for accelerated approval paths for safe, effective generic versions of biologic drugs, which provide patients access to lower-cost versions of many lifesaving medicines and products.
In addition, Heather is continually raising awareness about life-threatening allergic reactions, and has been on the forefront for programs that provide immediate access to epinephrine auto-injectors – the first line of treatment for anaphylaxis.
