Milan Puskar
Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board
Mylan Inc.
Milan (Mike) Puskar was elected to the Board of Directors of Mylan
in 1976. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Mylan since 1993.
Mr. Puskar co-founded Mylan in 1961 as a privately owned generic drug company.
For the next 11 years, Mr. Puskar spearheaded the growth of the company from
its early days as solely a distributor to its first manufacturing operations in
1965.
By 1969, Mylan was recognized in the pharmaceutical industry as a competitive
manufacturer of quality generic products.
Mr. Puskar left the company in 1972 and served as Vice President and General
Manager of the Cincinnati division of ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc. until 1975, when
he became a partner of Elan Corporation in Dublin, Ireland.
In 1976, Mr. Puskar returned to Mylan and served as President until 2000. He was
elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1980 and was elected
Chairman of the Board and appointed Chief Executive Officer in 1993. He served
as CEO until 2002.
In addition to his management responsibilities at Mylan, Mr. Puskar served on
the Commission for the Federal Drug Approval Process from 1981 to 1982; was one
of the founders of the Generic Pharmaceuticals Industry Association; has been
an adjunct assistant professor at the West Virginia University School of
Pharmacy since 1979; and served on the board of Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Puskar received a bachelor of science in engineering from Youngstown State
University. He also received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, where
he had achieved a top-secret clearance.
